National key points - the list they didn't want you to see

  • Mail & Guardian: National Key Points: The list you weren't meant to see... For years the National Key Points Act, a relic from Apartheid, has been used to prevent the media taking and publishing images of certain installations.

    The problem was that is the list itself was secret, so a member of the media or a member of the public could be in trouble for taking a photograph of an installation, without knowing it was on the National Key Points Act list.

    Now the list has been released, but there are still some surprises some might find a little puzzling... certain airports are listed (the three major ones), others are not... police stations are not, cellphone networks are not, but SABC installations are.
