    Helios Towers Africa appoints country head for DRC

    Helios Towers Africa (HTA), the independent telecoms towers operator in Africa, has announced the appointment of Philippe Loridon as CEO of its subsidiary in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

    Loridon, 47, joins HTA from Equateur Telecom Congo (ETC), a subsidiary of Bahrain-based Bintel Group, where he had been CEO since December 2010 and where he relaunched ETC in Congo Brazzaville.

    Prior to this, Loridon accumulated 20 years experience in the telecoms industry including 13 years at Hutchison Whampoa, a provider of global telecoms services. During his time at Hutchison Whampoa, Loridon initially fulfilled senior roles in sales and marketing and business development before becoming CEO of Hutchison Sri Lanka and later on director of Hutchison Telecommunications responsible for Latin American operations between 2000 and 2002.

As such, we are delighted to welcome Philippe as Country Head of our DRC operations.

    Philippe has extensive experience in emerging markets, very local experience in the region and has worked in a variety of senior roles in the telecoms industry for over 20 years. He will be a great asset to Helios Towers Africa and in our expansion plans in the DRC."
