Harris takes over from outgoing CEO Nils Flaatten, who has been at the helm of Wesgro since June, 2010. Prof Brian Figaji, chairman of the Wesgro board says that he is looking forward to working with Harris and thanks Flaatten for the significant role he has played during his tenure at Wesgro.
According to Figaji, the Board of Directors has developed a new 5-year strategy for the Agency that is in line with the Western Cape Government's planning cycle, "the timing of the appointment of Harris, coincides with the development of our new 5-year strategy and I am fully confident that Harris is the right person to drive this new vision through the agency. As Directors we have managed the succession planning process in a manner which gives Flaatten and Harris sufficient time to successfully complete the handover. Stability at Wesgro has not been effected."
"The City of Cape Town announced Lance Greyling as their new Director of Trade and Investment last week. We wish Mr Greyling well in his new role and we look forward to working with him to enhance the promotion of tourism, trade and investment in Cape Town and the Western Cape," added Figaji.
