PR companies and spam

I get tons of press releases sent to me every day from quite a few different PR companies and am getting seriously irate. Do some research before you send every release to all and sundry!!

I get tons of press releases sent to me every day from quite a few different PR Companies and am getting seriously irate. They've obviously got some sort of database made up of editor@blahblah and just send EVERYthing indiscriminately. I have no need of press releases, including 5 or 6 high res images of a new car that's about to be launched or of seminars on mining or agricutural issues being held in Senegal.

I've requested (politely so far) several times that these culprits remove me from their lists. Next time I won't be so polite. What you're doing is spamming and against the Electronic Communications act.

So PLEASE, before you send your next release, make sure the people you're sending it to are actually in the correct market.
For eg. DON'T send a release on the latest beauty products, braille educational products/annual earnings of some obscure American company with 10MB of attachments, to the editor of a gardening magazine!
