Phakama Women's Academy Class of 2015

The Phakama Women's Academy Class of 2015 has been inducted at a launch where the 32 successful candidates in this year's programme were introduced to their mentors and primed for all that lies ahead on the course.

Phakama which means 'to rise up or uplift' in the Zulu, Xhosa and Nguni languages, is geared towards knowledge transfer and this industry first initiative has at its crux, empowerment of young women soon to join the marketing industry.

According to the sponsor of the innovative CSI initiative, VWV Group, the overwhelming success of the pilot project, and the response from industry and participating tertiary institutions - UJ, AAA and Vega - confirmed a real need for the leadership academy and its soft life-skills training.
