Alan is an acknowledged expert in this field, having been involved in European data protection since 2006. He has presented POPI workshops on behalf of the Corporate Lawyers Association of South Africa and the South African Insurance Association. He has also presented many POPI workshops on behalf of Ark Training and has run many in-house workshops for large corporates. Alan represented the short-term insurance industry at the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development when it was holding public hearings on the POPI Bill. He has also been nominated to form part of the Information Regulator.
