ABF receives a R5 000 donation from Primedia in Store for the ABF bursary fundraiser

On Wednesday the 13th of October the ABF hosts a bursary fundraising event at Joe Parkers Comedy Bar in Montecasino. The event is geared to play host to over 200 people from the media and advertising industry.
"This event was made possible by our sponsors who absorb the hard costs and enable us to focus on the job of fundraising," says Sharlene Vallance. "Primedia in Store has donated R5000 towards the actual bursary cost for a student for 2011. This is a real help as even with a fund raising event we might still not reach our target." says Vallance.

"Lisa Botha from Primedia in Store kindly facilitated this donation and made all of our lives a lot easier," says Michelle Randall, bursary portfolio manager for the ABF. "This is the first time we are hosting a specific fundraising event and by the bookings made, it seems to be a well supported event. It would be a good idea to consider doing these types of events more regularly in the future."

The line-up for the evening promises to be most entertaining accompanied by host Darren Maule. Three local acts take the stage in the form of Monique Nortje, Hannes Brummer and Melt Sieberhagen, followed by the international act Mickey Hutton. A variety of comedians like this will ensure that should each guest have a funny bone to be tickled - they can be guaranteed of exactly that!

The ABF would like to thank Primedia in Store for their sponsorship and for making a very real difference in the life of an industry student in 2011.

The ABF was set up to assist those in the industry that are in real need of the vital support. The organisation continues to coordinate events which raise funds with assistance from agencies and businesses in the industry, and set up membership drives to raise regular annuity income in order to assist those in need.

The 41-year-old charitable fund provides vital crisis support to individuals in the advertising, marketing and media industries who have fallen on hard times. In providing a support structure, the ABF helps those who cannot support themselves due to retrenchments, redundancies, injuries or illness.
