Howzat! ABF hosts Family Cricket Day

As the first in a slew of upcoming annual fundraisers for 2011, the ABF is hosting a Family Cricket Day on Sunday the 6th February.
Sharlene Vallance of the ABF says that festivities kick off from around 07h30 that morning and are expected to continue throughout the day. "Firstly the event is to raise funds in order for the ABF to continue supporting our colleagues in the advertising and communications industry who have fallen on hard times," she says, "and of course it's a few weeks before the start of the Cricket World Cup and what better way to get into the cricket spirit."

The cost per team is R2 200 (less than R250 per person). A team consists of nine team members, one of which will act as an umpire for a separate game and the ABF asks that at least two ladies be included on each team. The minimum age for players is 12.

"The Family Cricket Day will be held at St Peters School in Fourways where entertainment for the kids will be available and food and drink will be on sale although families are welcome to bring their own food for the day. From around 16h30 we will begin our 'Hit the stumps' competitions."
