Dave Rooney joins FCB Johannesburg

Dave Rooney, who spent four and a half years as national media strategy manager for group sales and marketing at the SABC after being part of the team that established the commercial sales strategy for the DStv bouquet while at Oracle Airtime Sales, has joined FCB Johannesburg as its new media director.

Welcoming Rooney to the agency, managing director John Dixon said his experience within the broadcasting environment as well as other traditional media channels will stand FCB Johannesburg's clients in good stead.

However, he added, they are also certain to reap the rewards of Rooney's fascination with developing media and his desire to integrate these into existing strategies and business processes.

Rooney concurred: "While I initially joined the industry over a decade ago to train as a planner and strategist in classical media, I have always been eager to explore the opportunities offered by new platforms and channels.

"I believe that FCB's integration model will allow me to investigate new technologies and marry the best of these in a manner that will contribute greatly to a client's business success."

Rooney takes over from Lucinda Dare, who has decided to return to running her own media strategy business.
