FCB Africa agencies dominate Gecko Awards

Two agencies from the FCB Africa network dominated the 'Other African Countries' section of the 2006 Gecko Awards recently. The Gecko Awards are Namibia's premier annual advertising award event.

In addition to rewarding the creativity of its own agencies, it recognises great work via a section dedicated to entries from other African countries. Of the 10 awards made in this section, two agencies from the FCB Africa network - Publicita FCB in Moçambique and Cread Mauritius - took home six accolades between them.

Publicita FCB Mozambique won the Outdoor Billboard, Corporate and Products & Services categories for Vodacom Mz; the Public Service category for Mozambican Red Cross; and the Posters category for Compania Industrial da Matola while Cread Mauritius won the Radio Retail category client Shoprite Hyper. Vodacom and Shoprite are two of several Pan-African clients handled by the FCB Africa network.

Commenting on Publicita FCB and Cread Mauritius's awards, FCB Africa director, Kaliko Olowole, said they highlighted the network's commitment to delivering creative market solutions on the continent. He added: "It is gratifying that our agencies performed across a broad spectrum of categories, proving that the FCB Africa network has the depth and breadth of talent to assist its clients build their business in all important markets in Africa."
