CIMA Africa announces 2nd CGMA Conference to take place in Cape Town

Business leaders and accountants will gather to understand the opportunity digital disruption brings to the transformation of finance capabilities in Africa.

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) announced that the CGMA Africa Conference 2019: Finance transformation in the digital world will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on 11-12 September 2019. It will bring together numerous business and finance professionals from across Africa to discuss insights and share best practice on the future of finance and its application in business.

The conference is aimed at finance professionals such as accountants, management accountants, finance managers, tax practitioners, CEOs, CFOs, industry leaders, tuition providers, academics, government and employers in Africa.

Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) of businesses claim that ‘90% of their teams lack the necessary skills to drive digital transformation in their organisations’. Which is why the focus for this conference is the changing nature of the finance function, amidst the advent of technological innovations like robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain. It will unpack how these affect the skills that accountants will need in the future. It will also look at how the digital landscape is disrupting business models and challenging the role of finance to become a value creator.

CIMA Africa Regional Vice President, Timothy Simba, will open the conference and Dr Noel Tagoe, leading Academic and Finance Consultant on the Future of Finance, will kick off proceedings as the keynote speaker.
