For every movie rental of Hancock, Blockbusters Entertainment will donate R4 per rental across the Group's stores in southern Africa to Child Welfare South Africa (CWSA).

The promotional period is from 3 November up to and including 30 November, 2008.

Sheldon Davenport, MD of Blockbusters Entertainment, says the company is thrilled and excited to partner with CWSA to share the joy, fun and happiness, represented in the movie with all of South Africa's children and especially those in need.

“Will Smith, coupled with our own local favourite, Charlize Theron, definitely makes Hancock the movie for the month of November,” says Sheldon.

All Blockbusters stores will be stocking a large quantity of Hancock copies in support of the promotion.

Ashley Theron, National Executive Director of CWSA, says he is delighted with the promotion. “We welcome and appreciate the support from Blockbusters Entertainment that will not only bring early festive cheer to many but also make a significant contribution to the well-being of children in need throughout South Africa.”

CWSA is a national, non-government, non-profit organisation representing 169 child welfare member organisations. Together with its affiliated member organisations, CWSA is the biggest child protection movement in the country, protecting children, families and their care-givers.

The relationship between Blockbusters and CWSA was sealed when Mortimer Harvey was called upon to give a recommendation on a suitable charity organisation to benefit from the promotion of Hancock. Mortimer Harvey is CWSA's pro bono marketing agency and continuously looks for opportunities to increase awareness around CWSA's much needed initiatives.
