TimesLive reports that Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates included South African soap opera Rhythm City in his five reasons that he's hopeful about Africa blog post. Gates believes that the soapie indicates how far the country has come since the end of apartheid.
The soapie which started in 2007 follows the lives of those trying to break into the music industry and the dialogue is spoken in Xhosa, Zulu, English and Afrikaans. Gates's other reasons to be hopeful about Africa include Everyday Africa on Instagram, cassava hybrids, grandmothers and solar power.
