Show profile Hide profileHERMANN VENTER (b. 1977) completed his BA (Fine Arts) degree at the University of Pretoria in 1999, alongside a qualification in 3D Animation and Multimedia at the Open Window. Venter embarked on a career in post-production and 3D animation immediately after graduating at renowned companies including Depth Animation (Johannesburg) Atomic VFX (Cape Town), Diar Nadji (Saudi Arabia) and Filmworks (Dubai) which led to the founding of Rolling Thunder (postproduction studio) in Dubai in 2006. His entrepreneurial skills and creative impulse soon led to the company's expansion to a full-service production house producing high-end TV commercials, corporate videos and online content. In 2014 Venter relocated to Johannesburg to broaden the company's scope and offering by introducing another office, Rolling Thunder Productions. As a result, Rolling Thunder has become a preferred production house amongst advertising agencies worldwide. In addition to the building of a premier production company, Venter completed the degree MA (Film + TV) at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2018 in order to expand and refine his skills and knowledge regarding film as medium. Venter has also built up a profile as a director for film and TV commercials and produced and directed: the short film, Shadowboxer (2016) which won the category, Best Cinematography, and was nominated for Best Narrative Short, Best Actor and Best Poster at the The African Film Festival (TAFF) (Dallas, USA) in 2016, was selected for the Jehlum Short & Long Film Festival (Bangalore) in 2016 and was nominated for a Rapid Lion award at the 2016 Johannesburg International Film Festival. Revolver (2018) was selected for the ARFF Berlin // International Awards (Berlin) in 2018 as well as the 2018 Jozi Film Festival. Venter is currently Executive Producer and Producer of the feature film, 8, currently in postproduction. Venter is inspired by new challenges and thrives in high-paced, creative environments.
