I have a BAHons (Geography and Psychology), HDE (Post Grad) (Science, Geography, PSHCE) and QTS (Qualified teacher Status UK) SACE South Africa
From March 2010 - April 2011,Deputy Director of Learning Science at Oasis Academy Enfield where I was responsible for creating schemes of work (BTEC and the new Science GCSE), managing staff (including technicians) coordinating KS4, exam analysis, staff training as well as teaching up to A level
Most of my experience of teaching in the UK has been in the Haggerston Science Department Hackney London where I taught KS3 and 4 Science from Jan 2002 - July 2009
During my time at Haggerston, we introduced several strategies to raise attainment in KS3 and 4 including targeting underachievers, and the use of target systems and rewards. The department also organised revision classes aimed at targeted students.
I was also coordinator of "Saturday school" which, in association with local primary schools, was aimed at improving SC1 (Investigative) skills.
I have presented workshops at the KS3 Stragegy conference as well as whole school and department insets on LSS, TEEP and AfL.(All of which are methods to improve teaching skills and learner involvement.)
I was the SCT (Teacher responsible for trainee teachers) for the science department from 2005 - 2009 and have been involved in delivering workshops for professional development for the student teachers. I have also assisted the IOE (Insititue of Education London ) in interviewing prospective teacher trainee students.
As SEN/EAL coordinator for the science department I am responsible for ensuring that all students have appropriate support in the classroom and during exams. This is achieved in liaison with the SENCO
I introduced successful initiatives in the department at Haggerston including LSS (Learning Skills for Science), TEEP as well as How science Works.
As KS4 coordinator I was responsible for liasing with colleges and setting up taster days as well as organising work related learning days with the NHS as part of KS4 course work
3 years in Tawian 1999 - 2001 TEFL pre-primary level to business executives , teachers MCAT exams
IT skills excellent EDEXCEL, word, PowerPoint, SIMS, NOVA T, SERCO and Promethium
SEN, Challenging the More Able,skills based learning ,Professional Development courses as often as possible.
