Show profile Hide profileAs the owner of a signage company operating predominantly in the Cape Town area, I feel compelled to caution other signage companies against a con-man posing as a 'desperate job seeker', within our industry.
A man by the name of Hendrik Britz contacted me, looking for a work as a freelancer. Having just secured a contract, for which I was needing to take on additional staff on a temporary/freelance basis, I welcomed this said individual into our team. After the forth day of working on sight, he was left to get on with the job, unsupervised by the rest of my team.
The following day he neglected to arrive at work, despite the fact that another staff member was waiting to collect him from the bus stop (as per daily arrangement, to save him the walk and additional transport costs). When management and fellow staff members attempted to make contact with him, his phone was off/number non-existent. Simply went AWOL, without a word, leaving us to assume the worst (i.e.: that he had perhaps been a victim of crime - assuming that something untoward had happened to him.
Lo and behold, my team report to site to continue with the work that we had secured, via contract; to find this character: Hendrick Britz on site, doing the work that we were contacted to do. Finding ourselves left with half the revenue than had previously been arranged.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
BEWARE of this individual: Hendrik Britz.
He is a con-man of note, approaching you for employment. Works quietly/subserviently for a few days while he scopes out the scene, then as soon as your back is turned, he poaches your clients.
This individual has caused a considerable amount of damage to our company's bottom line and has cost other people their jobs, having to lay people off, as a result of this particular contract being stolen from us, by his unethical and immoral individual.
Just a heads up, folks.
I wouldn't want anyone else, to find themselves in the position that we are now in, after loosing a CONSIDERABLE amount of business, as a result of this underhanded individual.
This man epitomises the proverbial Wolf-in-Sheeps-Clothing.
Regards
