Show profile Hide profileThrough his love for film and its potential to inspire change, Mcebisi Sidlai has worked creatively in the film & video industry for over 5 years, focusing on producing impactful and engaging video content.
In 2016, Mcebisi enrolled at a tertiary film institution, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, and have worked on a number of student productions during the course.
In 2017 when Mcebisi was doing his 2nd year, He did voluntary film work, before he was taken in as an intern by The Salus Project. A community based HIV intervention headed by Dr Warren Hickson. Mcebisi has in the same year completed a community engagement video training at the University of Cape Town UCT, and the course was a stepping stone to his career.
Mcebisi was later employed as the Project Filmmaker, leading a team of young creatives for The Salus Project and supporting the project produce storytelling films. In 2018, amongst many short stories that he has produced, Mcebisi directed his first international acclaimed short documentary, LACK OF HIV KNOWLEDGE IS THE KILLER which gained him international recognition for his meaningful and storytelling work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW7JoPBmyz8&t=53s
In 2019, Mcebisi was freelancing and supporting a number of social change organizations, producing and directing storytelling films that aimed at bringing about change in the society. These organisations include Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation, CIDRI-AFRICA, MSF Southern Africa, and Southern African Labour and Development Research (SALDRU).
End of 2019, Mcebisi obtained his National diploma in Film and Video Technology. And he has recently obtained his Advanced diploma in Film Production (2020).
In 2020, while he was completing his advanced diploma, Mcebisi got employed as a Content Production intern by Doctors without Borders / MSF Southern Africa and that is where he is currently interning and developing as a young professional.
