Show profile Hide profileMy love for words led me into academics and studying literature. I started my career tutoring African literature at the University of the Witwatersrand and later at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. But the newsroom is where I found my home.
From wire editing, to writing, to laying out newspapers and tweeting on social media, my job varied over the 18+ years that I was a fulltime journalist.
As the online editor at the Daily News in Durban, SA, I was responsible for conceptualising the newspaper's website and social media sites - Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
This, I view as my most important and rewarding achievement.
After five years of building and maintaining the online platform, the Daily News online presence was one of the largest in the Independent Media stable.
From no online presence, the Daily News had moved on to 12 000 engaged Facebook followers and 7 500 engaged Twitter followers.
My aim is to utilise the knowledge and expertise I have garnered in the newsroom, as an online editor and as an academic to help you grow your brand online.
I pride myself on creating noteworthy content that people want to read.
I am currently KZN chair of the Southern African Freelancers' Association (SAFREA).
