Show profile Hide profileI relocated to London in 2011 and began working with Abercrombie & Fitch as their Visual Stylist; it was during this position that I was sent to Germany for a month to be part of the store opening team. I was then put through the Manager in Training program, which trains you how to run a multibillion-dollar branded store. The following topics were covered: Operations Management, People Management, Sales Management, Visual Merchandising, Loss Prevention and Recruitment. This provided me with an extremely strong foundation for my retail career as well as insight in to running a store in one of worlds fashion capitals. Returning to South Africa after 3 years in London I joined Superdry and was given the opportunity to implement the skills that I had gained in London, along with many new processes and procedures, as well as refine existing procedures. In addition to being the flagship Store Manager, I was the Ladieswear buyer. Two buying camps are held each year where I picked a range for the next season. Once product had arrived, I was responsible for selecting product to be dropped in stores as well as the rotation of stock between stores. I also had the opportunity of styling and selecting key looks for two of Superdry's own fashion shows, as well as Superdry's looks for Men's Health Fashion Shows. I hosted two Press Days and walked press and media representatives through the ladies collections. I have gained a very broad skillset and have been exposed to multiple avenues of retail; from managing, to staffing a store, to visual merchandising, to being a part of the full life cycle of merchandise, to styling looks for fashion shows and being part of a press day, and that is why I feel that I could add value to future employees.
