At Absa I am a Specialist Product Engineer, permanent since October 2023 after converting from a Modus BPS engagement, leading a team of four on line-of-business systems for the bank. I built the non-audit services secretariat system, which routes directors' requests for audit work through a sequential approval chain, on a Nest.js backend with Prisma over PostgreSQL, an Angular front end for requesters and a React admin dashboard, deployed to Amazon ECS on Fargate with infrastructure defined in Terraform.
Before Absa I was senior integration architect on Coca-Cola Beverages Africa's migration onto Azure, designing the replacement for a legacy SAP integration platform that carried more than 20 third-party integrations. I costed each design, presented it to the client approval forum and handed the approved work to a team of 10 developers.
Earlier I built a vehicle tracking platform for the South African taxi industry, where an unpaid account could be restricted through the device fitted to the vehicle, and the backend for a remote and smart metering network collecting readings from close to 800 meters across 32 sites. I started out tutoring ICT students at Tshwane University of Technology in software, electronics and industrial automation.
