Show profile Hide profileI studied the degree BIS Publishing at the University of Pretoria from 2015 - 2017.
In 2016: me and my fellow publishing students had a Community-Based project. We renovated, refined and re-organised an old library at Huis Hermon which is an old-age home in Pretoria North. Here I learned valuable team and time management skills as well as collaborative techniques.
In March to September 2017: I joined the Strateia Internship at SOAR Centre where i gained valuable knowledge about conflict and interpersonal relationship management as well as knowledge about emotional intelligence and maturity.
In February to June 2017: I also worked as a tutor for an Editing module (PUB 210) at the University of Pretoria. Here I assisted lecturers, marked practical assignments, aided students in extra practical tutorials, supporting students via e-mail, collating marks and creating extra excercises. Through this I gained communication skills, as I was in constant contact with students. Being a tutor also enhanced my time management skills and administrative skills, seeing as I was studying my third year of BIS Publishing while being a tutor.
During September to October 2017: I also started an internship at BK Publishing. During this internship I worked in the Marketing Department regarding the magazine SuperNova. Being an intern I gained various skills such as contacting schools to subscribe to the SuperNova magazine, making promotional content, aiding in developing possible articles for the magazine, making proposals for corporate companies and proofreading.
During January to July 2018 I worked part-time as a Publishing Assistant at BlackBird Books and a self-publishing company called Evera Publishing where I worked with authors, printers, editors, publishers and graphic designers.
I am currently working as a PASA intern at Jonathan Ball Publishers in the Marketing and Sales department. Here I work mainly with the Marketing and Digital Department. In the marketing department I assist with the marketing report, proofreading promotional content, sourcing content for online platforms and research (building databases and cold-calling). With the Digital Department I assist with checking online listings of local titles and processing purchase orders for online platforms. I also assist them with research. This internship will end 31 January 2019.
