Show profile Hide profileAs a seasoned IT Specialist (since 1979) with solid technical, hands-on experience in IT and with over 40 projects (Predominantly Financial Services and Retail sectors across various Southern African countries) "under my belt", I have amassed a significant array of skills and experience.
I have extensive experience on Project Delivery Life Cycles and Systems/Software Development Life Cycles. I am highly skilled at Project Management, Business Analysis, Solution Design, Systems Integration, Software Development, Hardware Engineering, etc., and driving business value by leveraging “best-of-breed” products/technologies to provide world-class solutions to clients.
I have also performed the role of Programme Manager for IBM's Global Outsourcing Division during 1999/2000, For Vela Developments from Aug 2008 to April 2011, for BancABC Holdings from Dec 2015 through to Jan 2018, and for MTN SA from Jul 2018 to May 2019.
As a project manager, I have successfully designed/built/implemented various solutions (on-premises or Cloud based) in these industry sectors, including the support and managed services that effectively deliver these solutions. Solutions in the Financial Services environment by nature involve multiple integrations to other complimentary systems, and a number of regulatory and compliance requirements. These often required working with local and international project resources and vendors/service providers.
On a number of occasions, I have been appointed to take over troubled projects, identify the various issues, put action plans in place to address these, restore the relationship with the project sponsors/stakeholders, get the required support from the delivery team, and deliver projects on schedule.
I have spent 10 years working for major SA banks, developing ATM- and Teller applications, and a further 23 years for vendors providing products/services/solutions to the Financial and Retail sectors. I have also had two tenures as Chief Technology Officer for two FINTECH companies.
As an independent consultant (since May 2011), I have provided Project/Programme management services and Banking SME Advisory services to clients.
I am a Subject Matter Expert and Advisor on Banking Self Service- (ATM’s, Cash Recycler, Teller Assist Units, Kiosks, Cash Management, ATM management) and other delivery channels (EFT-POS, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Agency Banking, Retail POS, Fuel-POS, etc.), with extensive experience on Transaction Acquiring / Routing / Processing / Settlement / Financial Payment systems, and the following EFT Switches: Postilion, CR2 Bankworld, SmartVista, Tieto, etc.
