studies at
PE Technikon in 1993, Nonny worked from 1994-1996 as a video librarian at
Primetime Media. Nonny's entry into film and television was under the tutelage
of the award winning Maureen Gxoyiya, a pioneer black woman TV director
/producer /scriptwriter, where she learnt the ropes as assistant continuity. Her first
commercial job in 1996 was an "Ultra Pad" advert with Velocity Films directed by
Neil Sundstrom followed by various other drama series.
In 2000 Nonny caught her big break when she worked as the Script Supervisor
position for the comedy feature film "Gums and Noses" by TOM Pictures. In 2001
Nonny further more horned her continuity skills on the popular soap operas
"Muvhango" and "Soul City".
Seeking to gain better knowledge about production in 2003 Nonny worked as
production assistant on a TV drama series "Justice for All 2" and later on "Justice for
All 3" as continuity.
In 2004-2009 Nonny worked as Script Supervisor on the first season of the acclaimed
"Jacobs Cross", " The Lab" (season 1), "Hard Copy" (season 1), "Generations" (soap-
Outside Broadcast Recordings), Scandal (soap -Outside Broadcasting Recordings),"
Innocent Times" (the first green screen film shot for 3D SFX (special effects)
miniseries produced by Mnet).
Nonny also became a sought after Script Supervisor on local and international
feature films including Out of Africa-feature "Coup", "Wild at Heart S1-3" for BBC
series "Life is Wild" USA feature, "White Lion", South African features films
"Jerusalema", "Finding Lenny", "Egoli ", "Lucky", "One last Look" and Peabo Award
winning "Inside Story". Nonny also worked during this time on a myriad of
commercials as Script Supervisor/continuity including the likes of "Tracker" by Fresh Water Films, "FNB" by Picture Tree, "Coke Georgia" by Cyclone Films, "8 Ball" for
PHB bank (Nigeria) by Red Dot Productions amongst others.
In 2010 Nonny was approached to direct four episodes of the acclaimed "4 Play Sex
Tips for Girls" followed by two short films for Ekasi Stories "Shamila's Dream",
Double Cross she then directed four episodes of the popular "Intersexions" drama
series, funded by the John Hopkins Foundation witch won for the best drama awards
(e.g. best drama and cinematography) in 2011. Nonny then went on to direct "Clash
of the Choirs S2", 'DSTV Extremer's Campaign Advert " and three episodes of the
popular hit series " Saints & Sinners", three short films, one of which are under the
Etv channel Ekasi Stories (Love Devine) and the other two are under Mnet Mzansi
Lokshin Bioskop (Woman to Woman & Do For Love). Nonny has since then
established her own production company called "Borderfilms Productions" with
Nomawonga Khumalo (a prolific director, scriptwriter, script supervisor & actor) to
facilitate and create long form films and series in Africa.
