How to become a Brand Manager?

I have a certificate in Brand Management from the AAA School of Advertising and gained 2 years of Sales experience while completing my studies part-time.

I want to know what the best path is to reach my ultimate goal of becoming a successful Brand Manager.

The reason I ask is that my CV only gets considered for Sales positions and ignored for Marketing functions. I am passionate about Marketing and will make a real difference to any marketing team or department. How do I get this across to prospective employees?
