Exclusive Books cancels Gangster State launch in Cape Town
Exclusive Books CEO Grattan Kirk has announced that the bookstore chain has cancelled its launch of Pieter-Louis Myburgh's book Gangster State at its V&A Waterfront store in Cape Town. The decision was made after a discussion between Exclusive Books, the South African Police (SAPS) and the V&A Waterfront's centre management.
Kirk said that the SAPS was unable to provide any security support if there was a reoccurrence of a similar incident in Johannesburg. Furthermore, Exclusive Books was advised that any damage or injury that would arise from any potential protest action would not be accepted by its insurance company.
