Karen Ashwin, Managing Director of The Event Production Company, has been appointed a Patron of the Adelaide Tambo Trust for the Elderly.
The Trust, founded with the objective of brightening the lives of the elderly, ensures peoples' dignity through recreation.
Says Ashwin: "It is indeed an honour to be a part of The Trust. We are already underway exploring means by which to address the social needs of the elderly, both those in old age facilities and those living within their communities. The Trust aims to send a message to the elderly and the nation that the old have not been forgotten."
The Trust also pledges to find ways of recognising the value of the lives of the elderly, acknowledging their age, and celebrating their lives and achievements.
Recreational outings for those that live in old age facilities and bringing quality entertainment to those who still live in their communities are just two ways that the Trust hopes to brighten the lives of the elderly.
Aswin and her team at The Event Production Company produced the first breakfast to kick-off the initiative.
Since starting The Event Production Company in 1993, Ashwin has developed it into one of the most respected and recognised corporate production and event planning companies in South Africa. Ashwin also sits on the Board of the Johannesburg Tourism Company.
