ABF ready to assist in 2010

The 2010 ‘bosberaad' for the ABF was held on the 20 January at Draftfcb in Sandton. Ending on a high note last year thanks largely to the Starcom Mediavest Group and its media owner partners who raised well over half a million rand for the ABF, the executive committee has planned the year ahead with enthusiasm and dedication.
“We realise that our corporate donors are vital to this organisation,” says Giles Shepherd, ABF President. “To aid our sponsors, we are pleased to announce that as of the 2009 financial year, we are able to provide companies with certificates of donation for tax purposes and these may even count towards BEE ratings.

The ABF has over 40 corporate donors and this year a strategy is in place to increase sponsorship by at least 35%. As part of our drive to increase membership, donor organisations, and to keep all parties familiar with the organisation's goals and benefits, senior committee members will be making appointments with industry leaders throughout the country.”

“As the vital support fund of the advertising, media and communications industry, the ABF is open to anyone and its validation committee is committed to bridging a gap in people's lives when everything seems to be falling to pieces,” adds David Deminey who heads the ABF membership portfolio. “The more the industry realises that we are a simple phone call away, the more we can make meaningful contributions.”

Individual members have the additional benefit of joining Discounted Lifestyle, a loyalty programme offering countless rewards and discounts on many services and entertainment options. An ABF membership number and password will secure entry into a world of saving for an annual membership of R350. Coupled with this is immediate access to Lifeline for members and their family.

“With stress and financial instability playing a real role in people's lives, this service might very well be the answer in times of need,” says David. “We are also investigating some underwriting issues for individual members. We are working hard to ensure that ABF membership is so attractive that it will prove impossible to turn down.”

The ABF will continue its roadshow presentation to all companies in the industry.
